A COUNCILLOR who wants to help people with financial problems is issuing a reminder help is available.

Councillor James Williams, who represents the Nelson ward, has been sending leaflets out to residents with key numbers.

But the Tory councillor wants to spread the message further at a time when many people might be facing financial hardships.

He said: ‘I want to remind people that if they’re feeling anxious or worried about money then there is support.

‘This is a time when people want to spend more, but may not be able to because of income loss.’

Cllr Williams advises people to check the following places for help:

n Call Portsmouth Advice Centre, London Road, on (023) 9265 6300.

n Call the National Debt Line on 0808 808 4000.

n To get information on reducing fuel bills, people can call Portsmouth City Council’s Winter Warmth line on (023) 9268 8369, and non-homeowners can call the Energy Savings Trust on 0800 512012.
