SOMETIMES in life you get unexpected news that is a little ray of sunshine.

This was the case for Drayton couple Simon Perkins, 64, and his wife Swinitha Perkins, 69.

The pair entered a national competition for a free five-star holiday to Egypt.

Competing against hundreds of other people, they didn’t expect to get a phone call.

But to their surprise and delight they were told they would be jetting off to the Red Sea next month.

The competition was run by Advantage, a consortium of independent travel agents which includes Travelplanners in Waterlooville town centre.

Paula Boyd, 48, manager at the branch, where she has worked for 28 years, said: ‘It was fantastic.

‘Mr Perkins got a phone call from the company and came in with a big cake to thank us.’
