Energy convertor plan for Daedalus topic of CAT meeting

A PLANNING application for an electricity converter station will be discussed at a community meeting.

A Community Action Team meeting will take place on Monday at Holy Rood Church in Stubbington from 6pm to discuss National Grid’s planning application for the IFA2 link at Daedalus.

The application also includes plans for public open space at Daedalus and works at Chilling where a connection to the grid is proposed.

The proposals are part of National Grid’s planned energy infrastructure project known as IFA2, linking the UK’s electricity transmission network to France.

If approved, the electricity interconnector will provide enough electricity to power about a million homes.

Chairman of the meeting, which is run by Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Arthur Mandry, said: ‘A planning application has now been submitted and I encourage everyone with an interest to attend to find out more.’

A previous CAT meeting was held in December, along with a number of public information events in December and March.

To comment go to fareham.gov.uk and search for reference P/16/0557/OA before June 30. A decision on it will be taken later in the year.
