AN ENGINEERING firm is looking forward to its future after being shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Lizard NDE, has been shortlisted in the best energy improvement category at the UK Energy Innovation Awards.

The company, based at Hart Farms Way, in Havant, makes non-destructive testing equipment which can be used to check the conditions of cast iron pipes and oil tanks.

Paul Bentley, director and co-owner, said he is hoping making the shortlist will help his company grow.

‘I was amazed when I found we had been shortlisted for such a prestigious award,’ said the 38-year-old.

‘We are hoping that being put forward for the award will help us get bigger and get more customers.

‘Lizard NDE is in a very niche market which is growing and we hope to grow with it.

‘We want to get more international businesses and having this under our belt will certainly help.’

The firm was started by Paul at the end of 2012. He said he is surprised Lizard NDE could be put forward for such an award.

He added: ‘We know our market is specialised but even so, we didn’t think we could become as big as we have.

‘We have orders going out to Brazil so things are on the up. This reward would top off a great few months.’

Also shortlisted in the same category is DVS Technology, also based in Havant.

The award ceremony is on April 24.
