LEAN business specialist Fedden USP has been awarded European Social Funding to train small companies in the Solent area.

The Gosport firm will provide training with MIT Skills and Chichester College. The funding will be available until July 2015.

After completing the training, candidates receive a nationally-recognised Certificate in Business Improvement Techniques (Lean) Level 2 qualification.

Neil Fedden, principal consultant at Fedden USP, said: ‘Being awarded this funding is really good news as we can now deliver real and sustainable business benefits to SMEs in terms of improved process efficiencies, reduced lead times and improved problem solving capabilities.

‘It’s not unusual for a business to see potential savings of £50,000 from the training we are delivering.’

The training course runs over a 14-week period, the timing of which can be suited to fit in with the timescales required by a company.

It consists of a five day workshop spread over the 14 weeks.

The delegate runs an improvement project within their own business supported by two mentoring visits by one of Fedden’s consultants.

The course can be run in-company providing there is a minimum of 10 people on the course; for companies who cannot commit these numbers, Fedden will be holding a series of open courses at various locations and dates.
