HALLOWEEN and Bonfire Night are both just around the corner and to celebrate there will be activities at Gunwharf Quays, including a firework display.

The events, which run from Saturday to November 4 are aimed at keeping school children busy during the half-term holiday.

The main attraction is the firework display which is from 5.30pm to 8pm on November 2.

Pumpkin carving will take place from Saturday to Wednesday, with all pumpkins being entered into a competition to win a visit to Jamie’s Italian for the child’s class.

A series of workshops, called the School of Spooks and Spells, will also keep the little ones entertained in the central square from midday to 4pm, from November 1 to 4.

These events will kick off with an arts and crafts event where children will make bookmarks and door hangers, followed the next day by a baking workshop where youngsters will bake cupcakes.

There will also be a potion-making session led by a wizard, a ghoulish treasure hunt and Errol the Owl from Harry Potter will visit the centre.

Sean Sweeney, centre manager at Gunwharf Quays, said: ‘Our aim over half-term is to keep the children busy.

‘There will be plenty of entertainment for children of all ages so bring the whole family down – we’ll be delighted to see you all.’
