Fareham diners munch their way through 30,000 meals at they eat out for a month

DINERS in Fareham munched their way through 30,000 meals as part of the government's ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme.

The borough notched up a total discount on their food of £174,000, with people saving an average of £5.87 per meal.

The scheme, introduced at the sta rt of August, was part of the government's drive to try and boost the economy following months of lockdown at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

Suella Braverman, Fareham’s MP, said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled at the level of support local people in Fareham have provided to our brilliant restaurants and hospitality businesses.’
