Fareham firm gives tips on being safe online

A COMPUTER firm is giving tips on how people can stay safe online ahead of Safer Internet Day.

Taylor Made Computer Solutions, based in Fareham, has released its top tips on how businesses can keep themselves protected online.

It comes as Safer Internet Day is being held on February 7.

The company is trusted by some of the biggest public and private sector organisations in the region to keep its data safe and IT running.

It says security threats have been increasing year-on-year and cyber-attacks are becoming far more sophisticated.

Technical director Matt Faulkner, who oversees projects for the likes of the NHS, Goodwood and Fat Face, said: ‘There are a number of very basic technologies that can be adopted by any organisation to reduce the risks, from professional security testing, to robust e-mail security solution, to managed anti-virus solutions on the desktop.’

Their tips include:

n Use a sensibly complex password.

n Be suspicious.

n Never give your username and/or password to anyone.
