ALMOST 60,000 homes and businesses have a faster internet connection thanks to a £28m boost.

Hampshire County Council is helping to make sure rural areas of the county have faster broadband speeds.

Around 58,200 homes have now got better connections. The target is for at least 95 per cent of properties to have high-speed broadband by 2018.

Council leader Councillor Roy Perry said: ‘By the end of 2015, around 91 per cent of premises will be connected and we are well-placed to take action to further extend the programme.’
