A FERRY firm has scooped a top accolade at the Family Traveller Awards.

Wightlink won Best Family Ferry Operator at the third annual Family Traveller Awards last week.

The event received a record 45,000 votes from the magazine and website’s readership.

Voters looked at every aspect of planning a family trip when picking their favourite and a panel of judges short-listed entries into each category.

The panel was made up of travel experts Jane Anderson, editor of Family Traveller magazine, BBC presenter Simon Reeve, BBC Radio 4 presenter Mariella Frostrup, travel director of ELLE, Sue Ward Davies and travel editor of The Times, Jane Knight.

Stuart James, marketing and innovation director at Wightlink said: ‘This is an excellent win for Wightlink,

‘The travel industry has recognised that families are increasingly seeking enriching experiences in their holiday decision-making process, which is something that we at Wightlink continue to develop. We’d like to thank Family Traveller readers and our customers for voting for us.’
