Apollo Fire Detectors, in Brookside Rpad, supported charity Canine Partners, an organisation that provides assistance dogs to those in need.

A chance encounter between Pam Quick and her assistant Labrador Alucia with an Apollo employee resulted in a fundraising effort at Apollo, matched by a corporate donation, which made about £1,000.

Pam, who has antiphospholipid or ‘sticky blood’ syndrome, osteoporosis, asthma and spinal cord degeneration, was partnered with Alucia in 2012. They visited the company’s Havant headquarters last week to meet the staff and say thanks.

Katrin Naefe, from the firm, said: ‘It’s about how local companies can support smaller causes and how that can really make a difference.’
