First Solent embraces Apple technology to make cashless payments

PEOPLE travelling on buses can now use their iPhone to pay their fares.

First Solent has become the first bus operator in the south, outside of London, to enable the use of Apple Pay technology.

Passengers can now simply tap their iPhone or Apple watch to carryout transactions. The use of cashless payment systems has risen to prominence during the coronavirus pandemic.

Commercial manager, Jonathan Lewis, commented: ‘First Solent was quick to introduce other popular payment methods on our buses such as the smartphone app and contactless and I am sure customers with iPhone and Apple watches will be delighted with the new express mode for Apple Pay technology.’
