A FORMER hostel with six letting rooms in Southsea has gone under the auctioneer’s hammer for £262,000.

The freehold property at 1 Pelham Road, which went for £32,000 more than the lower end of the guide price, was among 21 lots being sold by auctioneers Clive Emson yesterday.

A shop and maisonnette flat in Park Parade, Leigh Park, sold freehold for £37,000. In a separate lot, a two-bedroom house in Wilson Road, Stamshaw, went for £125,000, £35,000 above its estimate.

Rob Marchant, auctioneer, said: ‘Touching upon the Portsmouth lots which sold, auction industry data nationally reflects buying interest, with the percentage of lots sold raising 2.5 per cent to just under 78 per cent from July 2013 to June 2014.’

Starting at 11am, the next auction takes place at the Ageas Bowl on Friday, September 19.
