The company – named Aguero Drones – went live at the end of March, and its 17-year-old managing director Thomas Jeffrey said they are eager to change the discussion on drones.

Thomas, from Portchester, said: ‘We want to show through our company that drones can be used for so much more than people think. They have such a negative press at the moment and people overlook all the amazing things they can be useful for.’

The firm is the work of four teenagers – Thomas and his two friends Taylor Jeffries and Ciaran McEvoy, who all went to Cams Hill School, and Tomas Guerreiro, who went to Portchester Community School.

They all share a love of technology and Thomas said setting up a business was a natural step for them, after they were inspired by reading a book by sales trainer Grant Cardone.

Thomas said: ‘He has worked really hard and made something of himself. He says that you need to put in 10 times more action than necessary to meet your goals.

‘That’s what we are hoping to do. Our company is not something we want to keep small. We know that it is not going to be easy but we are committed to working hard and making it a success. It is our starting point.’

The company got its name from Tomas, as Aguero is his nickname. It operates an online store at aguerodrones.com where there are options for beginners, intermediates, professionals and kids. Prices start from £35.99 and go up to £3,600.

Thomas thinks drones can really help businesses.

He said: ‘In the future we are hoping to extend our customer reach to the agriculture industry by selling spray drones – they are a cheaper and quicker alternative for farm companies to treat crops.

‘Another option would be to start selling videography drones to real estate companies, this could help promote their properties by having a range of footage to show clients. It would also be useful for landowners wishing to survey their sites, for example spotting problems such as broken roof tiles or to preview the site for extensions.

‘We also hope to open a store in Portsmouth where people can test the drones before they buy. We are very excited.’
