A BUS company’s Christmas appeal has raised more than £500 for The Rowans Hospice, thanks to the generosity of passengers.

In the two weeks leading up to Christmas, Santa was behind the wheel on a Stagecoach bus, and with the help of his elf, served routes across Havant, Portsmouth and Waterlooville, raising money for the Rowans Hospice.

Matt Cooper, assistant operations manager for the Portsmouth area, said that the Santa Bus was a big hit with families.

He added: ‘I’m really proud of our staff members Doug, Emma and Charley for going above and beyond, and getting into the Christmas spirit by dressing up as Santa and the elf, all in the name of charity.

‘Together with our two engineers who prepared the bus, Matt and Keith, they have all helped raise a fantastic amount for The Rowans Hospice.’

Karen Murphy, community fundraiser for the hospice, added: ‘We are incredibly grateful to the team at Stagecoach South for once again choosing to support The Rowans Hospice and to the passengers who have so generously given.’
