Further 150 employees at Carillion are being made redundant

A FURTHER 152 employees of former construction firm Carillion are being made redundant.

An update from the official receiver, who manages the first stage of bankruptcies, said across the UK 152 members of staff will leave the business later this week.

Details of the employees affected and the branches of Carillion they worked for have not been provided.

As previously reported in The News, Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth employs around 800 staff from Carillion who provide a range of services from security to catering.

A spokesman for the official receiver said: ‘Those who have lost their jobs will be able to find support through Jobcentre Plus’ Rapid Response Service and are also entitled to make a claim for statutory redundancy payments.

‘Discussions with potential purchasers continue.’

To date 7,610 jobs have been saved and 1,141 jobs have been made redundant since Carillion’s collapse.
