Garden centre groups branch out into olives

A GARDEN centre is hoping to keep up with customer demand by stocking olive trees.

Stewarts Garden Centres, which runs Abbey Garden Centre, in Mill Lane, Titchfield, says it has expanded its range to meet the demand.

Plant buyer manager Jamie Rolling said: ‘The olive plant requires very little attention. In their natural habitats, olive trees can live to be thousands of years old.’

He said customers have been buying smaller lollipop-shaped plants, but also buying larger olive trees, some trimmed with a cloud shaped foliage, for over £1,000.
