A WEEK’S worth of queues in North Harbour will continue into this week as gas works continue.

Frustrated motorists have suffered queues on Southampton Road since Saturday, November 22, with one lane being closed on the eastbound road.

Works were advertised to be complete by Sunday, November 23, but will now go ahead until at least Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for Southern Gas Networks said: ‘We are reinforcing the gas supply network to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area. As part of this work, our engineers have been on site monitoring gas pressures.

‘It has been necessary to implement temporary lane closures in Southampton Road and Western Road to ensure everyone’s safety while we work. We have completed work in Western Road and the lane closure there is being lifted. We are aiming to reinstate the road surface in Southampton Road on Tuesday so we can remove the lane closure on Wednesday.

‘We would like to apologise to road-users for any inconvenience caused and thank everyone for their continued patience while we complete this essential work.’
