Now drinkers are being treated to the return of Southsea Beer Ex.

Up to 40 different ales and a selection of ciders will be on offer during the occasion, being held on April 1 and April 2 at The Wedgewood Rooms.

The event was first put together last year after the Albert Road music venue clubbed together with The Leopold Tavern, also on Albert Road, to think of a fun way to showcase local beer and live music.

Three sessions will be held; the first from 6pm to 11pm on the Friday, the second from midday to 5pm on the Saturday and the last one will take place that evening from 6pm to 11pm.

Five bands will play during each session.

And Southsea’s Pie and Vinyl record store, in Castle Road, Southsea, will be serving up food for guests.

Stuart Ainsworth, landlord of The Leopold Tavern, is looking forward to everyone having a great time once again.

He said: ‘It’s about real ale meeting real music, and keeping it local.

‘It worked last year, lots of tickets were sold and that’s how we want to keep it this year.’

Stuart added: ‘Everyone knows Albert Road and the independent businesses on Albert Road.

‘It’s nice to see them working together.

‘And this is two local businesses collaborating on a positive, common aim for the area.
