A CHARITY which supports older people has opened a bigger shop in Gosport’s High Street.

Age UK has moved from its old High Street unit to a new outlet nearby.

Now staff are looking for more donations and volunteers to help them run the shop.

They also want to encourage people to come and look at the goods they have for sale.

Jo Needler, the trading and innovations development manager at Age UK, said: ‘I hope the shop in Gosport will attract bargain-hunters from miles around as any profit made will be ploughed back into the charity.

‘We have a lot of local support from people who have already donated items to the shop.

‘But we are still looking for more quality goods and also volunteers who are available to give a few hours of their time a week.’

Age UK’s Gosport shop stocks items including clothing, cookware and books.

Volunteers at the shop also give out information about local services, and offer advice.

Money raised from the shop helps run lunch clubs and home safety checks for older people.

The shop also operates a free advice line.
