A BUSINESS park in Havant is supporting Green Office Week by holding a series of events.

Each day of the week-long program at Langstone Technology Park focuses on a different area in the workplace: energy, transport, waste, purchasing and opportunity.

Businesses are being encouraged to think of measures they could implement that would make a difference, such as reducing energy by switching devices off rather than to stand-by or changing to eco-friendly office supplies.

Fasset, the facilities management company which operates the park, and Aramark Limited, which manages the on-site restaurant, are reinforcing the message about reducing waste through improved signs, lower food miles through sourcing more locally and even taking the general waste bins away for a day to remind people to recycle more.

Emma Bray, business excellence co-ordinator at Fasset, said: ‘I was amazed to read that one in three workers is lazy when it comes to looking after their environment at work.

‘British businesses waste over £120m each year just by leaving their lights on and only 11 per cent choose eco-office supplies.

‘I will be encouraging businesses and workers at the park to use this week as a springboard for action.’
