Growth for city house prices

HOUSE prices in Portsmouth have grown by nine per cent this year, compared to seven per cent in 2015.

The figures have been released in the latest Hometrack UK Cities Index.

The index for April showed that city level house prices nationally grew by 10.4 per cent compared to 6.6 per cent last year when growth slowed in the face of uncertainty over the 2015 General Election.

Hometrack also conducted historic analysis of the UK housing market to get a clearer view on what impact a vote to remain, or a vote to leave, in the EU referendum would have.

The report concludes that a vote to leave could result in a five to 10 per cent reduction in transactions, that would hit particularly hard in London.
