A Government awards scheme has praised the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce for its trade work across the EU.
The chamber has been ranked as ‘highly commended’ in the Support for Exporting category in the Enterprising Britain Awards.
It was recognised for its focused on work in building trade links with Romania, which is one of the EU’s fastest growing economies.
The chamber mainly facilitates help for exporters to Romania through the British Romanian International Gateway Exchange (BRIDGE).
Hampshire Chamber’s deputy chief executive, Maureen Frost said: ‘Through various partnership agreements and regional accords, we are actively widening market reach in Romania for a growing number of Hampshire exporters.
‘We are thrilled to have this work officially recognised at a UK-wide level.’
Companies in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas are already starting to see the benefits of the new trade link.
Waterlooville-based circuit board specialist Spirit Circuits and the engineering and design firm Portsmouth Aviation are among the businesses who have set up a strong exporting partnership in Romania.
