A CAMPAIGN has been launched to make Hampshire a top tourist destination for those who enjoy good food.

Hampshire County Council’s Good Food Campaign aims to bring more people to the area to enjoy some of its local produce and fine fining venues.

A new website has been created as part of the project to act as a one-stop shop for foodie days out and short breaks, showcasing restaurants and pubs, food experiences, competitions, a money-off voucher section and listings and events.

It also provides online accommodation booking.

Cllr Ray Ellis, the county council’s executive member for economic development and rural affairs, said: ‘With its strong food heritage, great local produce and award-winning eateries, Hampshire is well placed to tap into the food tourism market.

‘We not only want people to come to the county and make the most of the experiences and visitor attractions on offer, we also want them to get a real taste for Hampshire and its fine produce.’

Via the website, readers can also learn about the people behind the products in the ‘meet the producers’ section and gain an insight into trade secrets of how they make their products so tasty.
