Hayling Island care home rated as requires improvement

A CARE home has been rated as '˜requires improvement' by the Care Quality Commission.

The CQC inspected Wedge Residential Home, in Hayling Island, and gave a rating of requires improvement on four of the five categories the inspector looks at.

But Joanna Macey, from the care home, has said the report does not reflect the service provided by the care home.

She said: ‘While we acknowledge there were some areas highlighted in the report requiring improvement this in no way reflects the quality of the care we provide.

‘It is recorded that our staff know each and every residents personal needs well and all residents who were asked, said they were happy with their care.’

The CQC looked at five questions including is the service safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The caring question was rated as good.

Issues found included medicines not managed safely and plans of care not being personalised. But the report did praise staff and their actions.
