In return, 719 homes in Basingstoke and Deane, East Hampshire, Hart and Test Valley have transferred to Sovereign Housing Association, which is based in West Berkshire.

Residents were consulted on the transfer earlier year and have seen no changes to their tenancy agreements or rights.

The stock swap will enable both organisations to be improve local services to residents in areas where both organisations already have a significant presence.

Carol Carter, group director of housing for The Hyde Group, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome all of our new residents in to the Hyde family.

‘This stock swap will help both organisations to provide better services to our residents and create efficiencies which will support the building of new homes.’
