ICY tracks led to delays for commuters travelling between Portsmouth and London.

Passengers using South West Trains’ services were affected with the company blaming icy rails in the Petersfield area.

Trains from Havant towards London were diverted via Eastleigh and passengers were warned journey times could be extended by up to 75 minutes.

A signalling problem between Fareham and Cosham also caused cancellations and delays.

Mick Cash, general
secretary of the Rail, Maritime & Transport union said:
‘The fragmentation on Britain’s privatised railways leads to a culture of buck-passing and recrimination rather than having one dedicated operation taking care of the delivery of services to the travelling public.’
