A COACH firm says it has seen a rise in bookings this week during the train strike.
National Express has reported a significant increase in the number of passenger bookings.
Due to rail strikes, thousands of people are facing disruptions to their journeys.
The RMT Rail Union called the strike for yesterday and today and National Express has reported that its coach bookings from Portsmouth to London have increased by 41 per cent.
Passengers in Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Southampton travelling to London are affected.
National Express coach managing director Chris Hardy said: ‘Thousands of rail passengers from Portsmouth are facing a much more difficult journey by train.
‘We are seeing a big increase in people who are opting to take the coach instead and keep moving during the strike.
‘Our coach services offer a reliable alternative running directly to the capital with a guaranteed seat and free wifi.’
