The Pyramids Centre, in Southsea, apologised for having to close its pools between Saturday and yesterday. It was due to be open again this morning.

A post on Facebook BH Live, which runs the centre on behalf of Portsmouth City Council, said on Saturday: '˜The pool is currently closed until further notice. The rest of the centre is open as usual. We apologise for any inconvenience.'

An updated post written yesterday added: '˜Due to circumstances beyond our control the pool is temporarily closed. It will open again at 7am on Tuesday.'

Chris Arnold, from Stubbington in Fareham, is a regular user of the Pyramids Centre and said he was disappointed to go there on Saturday to find the pool unavailable.

'˜It needs a big investment, not quick fixes' he said.

'˜It could be a great centre if they solve their problems.'
