A TOUCH of glamour has arrived in a Hampshire village after a family teamed up to open their first hair salon.
After a long career working for other hair salons, Kelly Dove, from Sarisbury Green, decided to open Hair Lux, in Shore Road, Warsash, last month.
The 39-year-old took over the former estate agents office earlier this year and set about refurbishing it and creating the glamorous hair salon.
Now she is working alongside her daughter Olivia Reeves, 18, who is also studying at Academy at No.5 in Fareham, as well as her mother Jenny Newman and her cousin Sarah Baines.
Olivia said: ‘I’m really enjoying working here. It’s been great.’
Family friend Jan Taylor has also joined the team as stylist.
The salon held a party to mark its opening, which saw scores of people turn up.
Kelly said: ‘It went really well. It was very good. I thought that it would be quiet as it was the holidays, but it was very busy.
‘Now we are in our third week of business, it’s still busy. It has been really positive. We are all working hard.’
The salon is offering all types of hair services and Kelly says she is proud to be using L’Oreal products and has seen great results with Smartbond for colouring.
Kelly said the team had settled in to the community well. She said: ‘It is really nice to be in the village.
“Everybody has been really friendly.’
The salon is open Tuesday to Saturday, with late appointments available on a Thursday. It gives a 20 per cent discount for over-60s on a Thursday, as well as allowing customers to request songs.
