The judges were ‘blown away’ by the salon’s forward thinking and innovative business ethos.
The salon received recognition for its teaching as Carla Louise Whitford won Apprentice of the Year for her ‘clear passion for hairdressing’ and ‘avant-garde styling’.
Carla said: ‘I feel really happy, and I’m really shocked, and everyone has helped me so much.’

‘It has changed my life so thank you.’
The most prestigious award of the evening, Lifetime Achievement was given to Tony Wood after he was put forward by colleagues.
One of the nominators said that Tony had made an incredible contribution to the hairdressing industry, both locally, in Hampshire, nationally and internationally with his tenacious standard-setting and attitude towards pursuing ideas are pushed to extremes where most would give up at the concept stage.
Another thought Tony’s new salon to help and teach people about their own hairdressing business ‘offered great opportunity’.
All of this is topped by his amazing charity work. Being involved in the local community and setting up his Magic Scissors campaign.
This fundraising initiative was set up to train young people in Uganda in the art of hairdressing. Providing the recipients with a route from poverty, discovering a sense of worth and self-esteem.
He took his Magic Scissors to hairdressers all over the country and attracted many well know personalities to secure its success.
After receiving the award Tony said: ‘It has been a bit of a journey and it is not over yet and it is thanks to that lot over there. I really appreciate this, thank you.’
