X-FACTOR star Kitty Brucknell will switch on Portsmouth city centre’s Christmas lights later today.

The annual Portsmouth City Council switch-on event begins at 4pm.

At 5pm, comperes Rich and Zoe from Heart radio’s breakfast show will be on stage along with the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth and stars of the Kings Theatre panto Aladdin – Antony Costa from boy band Blue, Kitty and Christopher Marlowe – to help turn on the lights.

The fun continues to 6pm, when there’s a dazzling firework finale.

The authority has also arranged a Bavarian-style Christmas market in Commercial Road. Open 10am–6pm every day until Christmas Eve, the market features festively-decorated cabins hosting various gift and food stalls.

Gifts include personalised Christmas tree decorations.
