AN EVENT put on to bring landlords and property firms together under one roof has been hailed a success by its organisers.
It was the first time the landlords’ show has been organised in Portsmouth.
It was aimed at anyone interested in breaking into the residential property letting business, and was held at the Queen’s Hotel in Southsea.
The event was put on by Portsmouth and District Private Landlords’ Association.
Association member Malcolm Drew said: ‘We wanted to organize a type of trade show, for landlords and associated business.
‘It was a networking event for those people to exhibit their wares and bring them all together under one roof.’
The event had such a reception that the association had to expand it from one room to two.
As well as the exhibitors, the event also featured seminars from industry professionals.
And the housing charity Two Saints launched its new venture Real Lettings Southern at the show.
It aims to find places to live for people who have been homeless, leasing properties from the landlord and then subletting to its clients.
Mr Drew said: ‘All the exhibitors asked if we could do it again, and one or two people who came along to the show said they wished they’d been involved and they would be if we did it again next year.
‘Its success exceeded all our expectations.
‘We just didn’t know how successful it would be or how well it would be received.
‘Without a doubt we will be doing it next year.’
