Law firm is short-listed in insolvency contest
A LAW firm's insolvency team has been short-listed for an industry award.
Verisona Law, in Portsmouth, is hoping for success in the Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency Awards 2016, due to take place in London in October.
The awards were formerly known as the Insolvency & Rescue Awards, and Verisona Law won Business Rescue of the Year in 2014 in recognition of the firm’s contribution to the saving of Portsmouth FC.
Director Nick Oliver said he was delighted to be returning to the event as one of nine firms selected from across the country to be short-listed in the Insolvency Law Firm of the Year category.
‘We have achieved a great many successful outcomes for clients in the past 12 months, involving a variety of complex insolvency problems,’ he said.
‘At the end of the day, that’s what our role is really about – helping clients to understand their options and guiding them to the best outcome. Insolvency can be a daunting and complex area, and one that people normally have little contact with in their day-to-day lives.
‘We have done a lot of work for company directors this year. This has included the successful defence of directors accused of wrongful trading at a four-week trial in London. This case resulted in a ground-breaking judgment which clarified the law in this area. We have also assisted individuals resolve difficult bankruptcy problems, including many relating to properties.’
