Law firms win awards at prestigious ceremony

BEST practice at law firms was recognised at the Hampshire Incorporated Law Society annual awards ceremony.

Smith & Williamson beat competition to be named Solicitor’s Accountancy Firm of the Year at the black-tie event at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Rebecca Combes, head of business tax, collected the trophy from guest speaker Kevin Keegan, the former England football star.

She said: ‘Smith & Williamson met rigorous judging criteria to win the award, which we’re thrilled with.’

Firms and individuals were nominated across six categories.

Biscoes scooped the award for Firm of the Year (small). Managing director Alison Lee collected the award. She said: ‘To be able to say that we have been judged by our peers as the best firm in our category is an outstanding achievement’

Biscoes employs 100 staff at six offices in Portsmouth, Gosport, Portchester, Wickham, Waterlooville and Petersfield.

Smith & Williamson’s south coast office employs 50 people and covers the Portsmouth region,
