THE leader of Portsmouth City Council said it was an honour for the city to host the first America’s Cup World Series event and that it has helped put Portsmouth on the international map.

Councillor Donna Jones said: ‘Having the first of the America’s Cup World Series event in Portsmouth was a huge honour for the city.

‘Having the economic report is important because what it’s done is demonstrated what return we have got from our investment, both from central government to build the Ben Ainslie Racing base and the £200,000 that Portsmouth City Council put in to support the event in July.’
