A NEW free bus service is set to help shoppers buy their groceries.

Those living in Stubbington, Lee-on-the-Solent and Rowner will be able to use a new shuttle bus service to Asda in Fareham.

The service will begin on Monday, and is being run by Xelabus in conjunction with the supermarket.

The bus will run from Fareham bus station to Asda, before heading to Stubbingon, Lee-on-the-Solent, Rowner and then back to Asda.

The bus firm said it will be running hourly during the off-peak travel times, and would be ideal for busy mums and older people.

Gareth Blair, Xeabus managing director, said: ‘We have worked with Asda to look at areas which have seen reduced bus services, to give residents a reliable regular shopper bus.

‘Of course it will be free to use, so it’ll be a real cost saving for people in these days of recession.’
