Long-established funeral directors in Fareham and Gosport get fresh new look after merger

Two long-established funeral directors have now amalgamated after Fareham firm M Coghlan Ltd acquired E J Crossland of Gosport.

M Coghlan began trading in 1861, while E J Crossland went into business four years earlier, in 1857. Together they can offer a wealth of experience to people in and around the Fareham and Gosport area, looking after your family at your door, whenever needed. Richard Coghlan was honoured to be one of the bearers taking Eddie Crossland into Holy Trinity Church in Gosport for his funeral in 1999.M Coghlan has the sixth generation in the business now, with Richard's daughter Sophie joining the staff at Fareham.The company's staff are trained to the highest standard, with Richard Coghlan and Sally Walton holding the Diploma in Funeral Directing and the company now has three members of staff - Kevin Squires in Gosport and Tom Stevenson and Georgie Kneller in Fareham - embarking on their own diplomas with the British Institute of Funeral Directors.Their tutor Sally, on completion of her own training, will be able to offer government-accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to those in contact with the profession.Following the merger, work has taken place to give the businesses a fresh new look.
