Lovedean care home given Good rating by CQC

A CARE home was rated as '˜good' after inspectors found staff treated residents with kindness and enabled them to keep their independence.

Woodlands Care Home, in Lovedean, was given the ‘good’ rating on four of the five criteria looked at by the Care Quality Commission.

This included if the service was caring, well-led, responsive and effective. It was given ‘requires improvement’ on the safe section of the report.

The inspector found:

n People received the support they needed from staff who treated them with kindness and respect.

n Staff supported people to maintain their independence.

n There were no restrictions on when people could receive their visitors.

n The atmosphere in the home was open and inclusive.

The report added: ‘Residents were protected against abuse because staff understood their responsibility to safeguard people.’

But the inspector did note ‘some medicines were not stored or disposed of safely.’
