Major pizza brand steps in to boost charity's training

TEACHING kitchens will be filled with the smell of pizza after a major brand signed up to help boost cooking skills.

Domino's Pizza will be taking over the kitchen at Pompey in the Community for the 2018/19 season as the organisation aims to train youngsters and adults.

For the last year Pompey in the Community has used its eight workstations to provide training.

Adam Lea, head of commercial and marketing at Pompey in the Community, said: 'We are delighted to be partnering with Domino's Pizza Portsmouth.

'˜The company have shown so much passion for what we do as a community department that this partnership just made perfect sense.

'˜We are so excited by what we can achieve together in the future and the plans that are in the pipeline will help promote our educational kitchen facility as well as enable us the opportunity to create some bespoke sessions that will benefit the wider community as a whole.'

The charitable arm of the football clubs wants to provide an educational site for children and adults to learn and develop their culinary skills in a safe environment.

Domino's Pizza, now the charity's official kitchen partner, has branches in Portsmouth , Waterlooville, Cowplain, Fareham, Stubbington and Alverstoke.

Michelle Jay, marketing manager at Solent Pizza Group, added: '˜We are very excited to be supporting Pompey in the Community. We are big fans of what the organisation does in the Portsmouth community, and we have been keen to get involved with the team.

'˜The wide range of programmes the charity provides to members of the public is incredibly impressive, and we hope to use our brand to expand on this even further via the new kitchen facility.

'˜We have a real passion for working in all of our stores local communities, and teamed with our sponsorship of Portsmouth Football Club, this makes it the perfect partnership for us.'

The kitchen in Anson Rad, Portsmouth, will be re-decorated with Domino's Pizza's branding in the coming weeks, the charity said.

It is planning to run '˜innovative and inventive cookery initiatives' over the year.

The organisation runs various inclusion groups, including helping disabled children get into football.
