A BUSINESS trends report by the accountancy firm BDO shows business confidence in the UK’s manufacturing sector has fallen to a two-year low.

Malcolm Thixton, lead partner at BDO for the Solent, where the sector is still performing well, said optimism fell 26 points last month.

He added: ‘Such a marked slump in business confidence in the manufacturing sector is a real concern given that it has provided the propulsion for the economic recovery so far.’
