THE corks have been popping for two Marks and Spencer employees who have marked their 25th year with the retailer.

Rhona Plummer and Margaret Cokeley, who both work at the Hedge End store, started work with M&S in 1988 when the clothes rails were filled with shoulder pads, denim jackets and ripped acid-washed jeans.

Along with 87 other long-serving colleagues from across the UK who, between them, share more than 2,400 years of experience with the company, Rhona and Margaret were invited by Marks and Spencer chief executive Marc Bolland to attend a champagne reception at the high street retailer’s London headquarters to say thank you for their hard work over the years.

Rhona said: ‘We’ve always loved our jobs and that’s largely down to the people we work with and the customers who have become friends along the way too.

‘Today’s trip to London really has been the icing on the cake for us both after a wonderful quarter century.’

Rhona and Margaret were two of 77 employees celebrating 25 years’ service, and 12 were there to mark their 40th year.
