SHOPPERS at Gunwharf Quays will be treated to free performances from some of the world’s top military musicians next week.

Forty musicians from Portsmouth’s Royal Marines School of Music will give hour-long marching displays next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The performances start at 1pm and are being staged to promote the School of Music Band’s major concert at Portsmouth Guildhall on August 5.

Shoppers will hear some of the highlights from the Guildhall concert which starts at 2pm and ends with a spectacular Beating Retreat marching ceremony in the Guildhall Square.

Major Jason Burcham, director of Music Training at the Royal Marines School of Music, said: ‘We wanted to give the public a taste of some of the music being played this year, and where better to do it than Gunwharf Quays.’

Tickets for the Guildhall concert and Beating Retreat are available from the box office on (023) 9282 4355.
