It is part of the Charity Choices campaign, which involves a public vote as to which charity would secure a donation.

The members of the Yorkshire Building Society put their small change together to create £1,000 which was split between the three charities by a public vote.

The Rowans Hospice gained the most votes so was given £500, the Rocky Appeal at QA was given £300 and the Portsmouth Autism Support Network received £200.

Yorkshire’s Portsmouth branch manager Emma Palmer said: ‘Because each and every vote helped secure pounds for the charities, it felt right that the decision of splitting the money was put in the hands of our members and local people.’
