THERE is ‘more work to be done’ to get struggling Clintons Cards back on its feet.
The chain is a high street mainstay, with outlets in Portsmouth, Havant, Fareham and Gosport.
It reported its sales rose 0.4 per cent in the five weeks to January 1, compared with the same period last year.
But a wider picture showed a fall of 1.4 per cent in the 22 weeks up to the first day of 2012.
Chief executive Darcy Willson-Rymer, who took over in October, said: ‘There is clearly more work to be done.
‘Despite a tough retail climate, we remain in line with the board’s expectations.’
In the year to July 31 the firm reported a loss of £10.7m, and it put its Birthdays Ireland business into liquidation in March.
