GOSPORT MP Caroline Dinenage has published the inspiring biographies of two apprentices in her drive to promote the benefits of this type of training.
Joshua Barry, 20, is a mechanical manufacture engineer at Qinetiq. Over the past four years he has completed an apprenticeship at Qinetiq, in which he gained experience operating machinery. He has now been taken on full-time and works as part of a team, carrying out a number of different roles.
Chloe, 19, is a laboratory technician at Wickham Laboratories based off Fareham Road. As part of her apprenticeship, she is carrying out technical testing to ensure the safety of certain medical devices. At the same time, Chloe is studying for a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Laboratory Science, as well as the second year of her Level 3 BTEC in Applied Science.
Ms Dinenage said: ‘The sectors in which Chloe and Joshua work require highly technical skillsets as well as specialist knowledge.
‘Doing an apprenticeship has prepared them well by providing them with experience as well as the opportunity to learn at college. I am delighted to hear about their solid progress towards promotion.’
