MP shows her support for new transport plan

A PLAN to improve transport infrastructure in the Solent area has been backed by the MP for Gosport.

Along with other MPs from the area, Gosport’s Caroline Dinenage attended a meeting in Parliament on Tuesday marking the launch of the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership’s Solent Strategic Transport Investment Plan.

As reported, the plan provides a business case for infrastructure improvements, and the creation of a public transport network called Solent Transit.

Ms Dinenage welcomed the analysis, while calling on the Solent LEP to ensure the needs of Gosport, Stubbington, Lee-on-the-Solent and Hill Head are met.

She said: ‘This robust and persuasive analysis clearly shows the disparity between other parts of the country and the Solent region, which for too long has suffered from underinvestment.

‘Investment in Solent transport infrastructure is the linchpin for our area’s long-term economic success. The Gosport constituency must get its fair share of the cash and not be left behind.

‘Improved transport infrastructure is critical to support our productivity, which is growing thanks to investment in key sites like the Daedalus Enterprise Zone.’
