THE owners of Hayling Island Holiday Park are celebrating after scooping a major UK tourism award for the second year running.

Parkdean is the toast of the travel industry after being crowned the 2011 Best UK Holiday Park Operator at this year’s well-attended British Travel Awards.

Battersea Evolution in London was the stage for this year’s ceremony and more than 1,000 key industry managers packed into the venue.

A staggering 700,000 votes were cast by holidaymakers and industry experts to decide the destination of the travel awards.

John Waterworth, chief executive of Parkdean, which runs 24 parks in the UK, said: ‘We are thrilled to bits with the award and to be the winners of the Best UK Holiday Park Operator for the second consecutive year makes me feel proud of our whole team.’
