UP-AND-COMING writers in Portsmouth have put together a new anthology.

Local authors will be presenting their Writers to Watch anthology at the launch on March 7, at the Square Tower, at 7.30pm.

The writers have been working together to produce a collection of literature containing poetry, short stores and passages from novels.

The Writers to Watch project started with last years BookFest.

The event gave 20 writers the opportunity to talk for 12 minutes in public libraries.

James Schillemore, who is one of the contributors, said: ‘It was such a great experience that we decided to create a book.

‘The best part about the whole thing is getting to work with other writers.

‘Writing can be a lonely process and it’s helpful to have somewhere to share ideas and inspiration.’

Dom Kippin, the literature development officer at Portsmouth City Council, said: ‘They all gave fantastic recitals.

‘The quality of their work was consistently high so we decided to take it further and publish a collection.’

The anthology will be on sale at the launch.
