New community venue in Horndean could include a cinema

A CINEMA, stage shows and live feeds of West End performances are top of the list of things local people want to see at a new community building.

A new hall is to be built in the village as part of the 700-home development on land east of Horndean.

East Hampshire District Council and Horndean Parish Council have been asking people what the building should be used for.

Top of the bill were recent films shown on a big screen, followed by live feeds from West End shows.

Horndean Cllr David Evans said: ‘There isn’t anything in the area that offers this kind of thing.

‘This building will provide a purpose-built place for people to watch films, shows and theatrical productions, as well as enjoy art exhibitions, dance classes and a host of other community activities.

‘It will have retractable theatre-style seating, a stage, lighting rig, a cinema screen and projector and will be perfect for this type of use, but with flexibility for fairs and functions of all sorts.’
